Madeline and Montague Wolfson Donate $1 Million in Support of Keeping the Promise…The Campaign for Boca Raton Regional Hospital

Long-Tenured Boca Raton Donors Will Be Recognized in New Patient Tower

BOCA RATON, FL – March 3, 2021 “We feel blessed to help build our hospital and make it the best in Florida.” Such is the sentiment of Madeline and Monte Wolfson, who recently made a very generous $1 million gift to Keeping the PromiseThe Campaign for Boca Raton Regional Hospital. The Wolfsons join a list of Boca Raton’s philanthropic “Who’s Who” of seven- and eight-figure donors to the Campaign who have helped raise more than $195 million, thus far.

“Madeline and Monte Wolfson are the consummate donors to Boca Regional and we are as thankful for this enormous measure of generosity to Keeping the Promise as we are for all of their other gifts to us,” said Lincoln Mendez, CEO of Boca Raton Regional Hospital, part of Baptist Health. “They have given us the treasured gift of loyalty, time and, of course, resources that have immeasurably helped us respond to community need over the years.”

The Wolfsons have been donors for more than a decade, beginning their allegiance with philanthropic support of the Eugene M. & Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute and the Christine E. Lynn Women's Health & Wellness Institute. Their current interest in the ongoing campus initiative is the new Gloria Drummond Patient Tower, in which they will be recognized for their million-dollar gift on the eighth floor.

“Giving back” is a driving force in the Wolfson’s lives. As poignantly described by Monte, “I was born in Austria in 1936 and, because my father had a British passport, we were very fortunate to escape the Holocaust by leaving for England in 1938 and then arriving in the United States in 1940.” “I feel fortunate, at this point in my life, to give back. Madeline and I have supported Boca Raton Regional Hospital for more than 12 years and are honored to be part of this important community asset and to help build the new patient tower.”

Madeline and Monte Wolfson have lived in New York since childhood, and for the last 21 years, have made their second home in the Polo Club of Boca Raton. In addition to supporting local and global Jewish agencies, the Wolfsons have kept Boca Raton Regional Hospital front and center, and have

recently joined the hospital’s Insights in Medicine Steering Committee. Madeline has also been incredibly involved through the years with the hospital’s Play for PINK annual charity event at the Polo Club.

“We have made philanthropy one of our lifetime goals,” indicated Madeline. “Through our family foundation, we hope to teach our children and grandchildren the importance of giving, and of choosing organizations that are important to them and to the community.”

The $250 million Keeping the Promise campaign is the largest campaign in the Hospital’s history. It is

supporting the most ambitious period of growth and expansion for Boca Raton Regional Hospital.

The campus redevelopment plans include at the centerpiece, the new Gloria Drummond Patient Tower where patients will be welcomed in the inviting new Louis B. and Anne W. Green Lobby with plans for retail, dining, meeting space, a sanctuary, outdoor courtyards and other conveniences for visitors. The new tower features all new surgical suites and all private patient rooms exceeding the latest safety standards for patient care. In the current hospital building, all existing rooms will be converted to private in a comprehensive renovation of all patient units including maternity, oncology, and orthopedics. An expansion of the Marcus Neuroscience Institute is well underway with emphasis on neurovascular/stroke, central nervous system tumors, spine, and epilepsy/seizure disorders. The recently opened 972-car Schmidt Family Parking Facility will be connected to the Marcus Neuroscience Institute once the new tower construction is complete. Also included in the plans is the new Toby and Leon Cooperman Pavilion, to be located across the street from the medical campus with an outpatient surgery center, physician offices and adjacent parking. These investments are the initial steps toward an even broader vision for the campus with greater access points and even more specialties.

“We thank the Wolfsons profusely for their assistance with this all-important campaign,” said Stan Barry, co-chair of Keeping the Promise. “They join a growing list of incredible friends and family who have responded to the future healthcare needs of our community.”
